  Change of Heart Down Under
We wrote not so long ago:

The Chicoms for their part have already started a massive lobbying against the deal among NSG countries like Australia (currently the biggest Uranium supplier). Some in the Australian administration are already showing their dissent despite hands of friendship extended to India from that country.

Now during Prime Minister Howard visit to India:

Australia currently does not sell uranium to nuclear-armed India because it has refused to sign the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).

Mr Howard has told reporters on his arrival in New Delhi that he is willing to re-examine the policy.

"We are interested in the agreement that's been struck between the United States and India," he said.

"We do have long-standing policy of only selling uranium to countries that are part of the NPT regime, but we'll have a look at a bit more information about that and we'll further assess it.

We were expecting this to happen sooner or later, but not so fast.

Comments:
CN: that certainly was quick and without ceremony. Better to be on the right side of history is probably what they're thinking.
